Or better yet, put them in a play list and see if you notice when the soundtrack changes. Seriously, listen to a few songs on The Last of Us sound track and then listen to Bradley. The opening notes of "Bradley" in particular are nearly identical to the main "The Last of Us" motif, just in a lower octave. I'd compare songs like "Buddy's Theme" to that one. The softer music is heavily reminiscent of The Last of Us's soundtrack. I'd recommend Death Grips (some songs at least) but they can be a bit difficult to get into. I'd say most of it is hip-hop of the experimental variety. I see an Earthbound reference down below which is good as it was definitely an inspiration and you can hear it, but Lisa has a much darker, heavier tone than Earthbound so YMMV. There are a lot of genres present on the soundtrack, and a lot of genre mixing as well.
Hopefully that gives a little bit of context! If you find anything else, please feel free to share! Both of them have killer soundtracks that may well be the best ones you can work with on the infamous scratchiness of an SNES and the GBA soundchips. If you haven't had the opportunity to play Earthbound, I highly recommend that and Mother 3. It actually sampled and translated a lot of musical inspirations onto an SNES chip, which was no small feat in and of itself, and its works range from surreal to heartwarming in nature. Lisa has a lot of its songs split between Absurdist (Work Harder being composed of Shenmue grunts, the Highway King made of a speaking Shaolin monk gimmick software), Horror (Blood for Sex, Deep Inside Me), and Depressing (Goodbye, the Sacrifice, and the Call themes), all of which switch on the dime.Įarthbound is probably the best inspiration source for Lisa, though. Off, for example, has a surrealist swing-time soundtrack that delves into horror. However, all these games have a specific bent to their soundtrack to reinforce the theme. At the current moment, I'm pretty heavy into Vaporwave-inspired remixes of classic SNES, N64, and Genesis games. Me personally, I listen to other indie pixel-based games, as they usually have a retraux soundtrack that utilizes soundchips and sampling to simulate the SNES or other classic game systems. Lineder has a good compiliation of them on his Youtube. I'd highly reccommend checking those out if you're looking for a Lisa feel. Rule 3) Don't be an asshole, be polite and respectful towards one another.įor Lisa, the fangames have some great soundtracks, and their youtube compilations include the soundtrack versions that haven't made it on the games yet. Rule 2) All posts that contain spoilers must be marked as such.
Rule 1) All posts must relate to the LISA series of games, and/or its various fan works. You will learn that in this world being selfish and heartless is the only way to survive. Whether it's taking a beating for them, or chopping off limbs, or some other inhuman way. If you want to save a party member from death, you will have to sacrifice the strength of your character.
These choices permanently effect the game play. Players will learn what kind of person they are by being FORCED to make choices.
Beneath the charming and funny exterior is a world full of disgust and moral destruction. Lisa is a quirky side-scrolling RPG set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. A game about survival, sacrifice, and perverts.
